Tree Hierarchy View
Generic multi-level tree view (parent, child, grandchild…) with list columns for any hierarchy
A new kind of view for Odoo. Records appear as a tree: every parent with its children, grandchildren and deeper levels, in one table indented by level and with the columns of a normal list. Each branch opens and closes on its own.
Features
| Feature | What it does |
|---|---|
| Multi-level tree | Rows indented by level, each with an expand arrow and the number of its children. |
| Expand to level | Expand all, collapse all, or open the tree down to level 1, 2, 3… |
| Search with context | When a filter matches only a grandchild, its parent and grandparent stay visible in grey. |
| Totals | A footer total for numeric columns and, for values that add up along a branch, the total of each branch on its parent row. |
| Drag & drop | Drop a row onto another to change its parent, or onto the top bar to make it a top-level record. A record can never be moved under one of its own descendants. |
| New child | The “+” on a row opens a new record with the parent already filled in. |
| Optional columns | Show or hide columns, as in a normal list. |
| Fast on large trees | Only the shape of the tree is loaded first; the details are read for the rows you open. |
Where it can be used
The view works on any Odoo record type organised as a hierarchy. It is switched on one record type at a time, by a small extension that chooses the columns: Project Task Tree Hierarchy does it for project tasks.
Good to know
- Rows are read-only: a click opens the record.
- Grouping is not available in this view.
- Branch totals include all the descendants of a row, whatever the search filters.
