STeSI MRP Crew

In Odoo the operators on a work center change the cost, never the time: one person or four, the operation lasts the same. On a line that really does go faster with more people, the schedule is wrong from the start. This module makes the duration follow the crew — and not proportionally, because the second operator is worth much more than the fourth.

Who is it for

Manufacturers whose assembly, wiring or finishing lines speed up when more operators are on them, and who staff those lines shift by shift with a limited, multi-skilled workforce.

How it works

  • Describe how fast a work center runs with two, three or four operators: a table of measured factors, or a single coefficient when the curve is smooth.
  • Say who may work where, then plan who mans which work center, shift by shift.
  • Expected durations, dates and labour costs follow the crew — and going back to the usual team restores the usual times.
  • When you would rather not decide by hand, the allocator proposes who goes where, explains the reason line by line, and writes it only when you accept.

The result: the plan tells the truth about the plant. A line short of people shows it before the delay does, and one more operator shows what it really buys — in minutes, not in opinions.

Work order duration driven by the crew assigned to the work center, with a non-linear speed curve, shift planning and an allocator that decides who goes where.

Features

  • Speed curve per work center or per operation — a table of measured factors (two operators ×1.8, three ×2.5, four ×2.6, congestion allowed) or a single coefficient for a smooth curve of diminishing returns.
  • Minimum and maximum crew — below the minimum the work center cannot run; beyond the maximum extra people bring nothing.
  • Crew planning — who mans which work center in which time slot, with a guarantee that nobody is ever booked in two places at once.
  • Durations and dates that follow — the schedule and the Gantt move with the crew, and beyond a threshold you set the work orders are replanned by themselves.
  • Labour cost that follows too — same work, more people, more cost per piece when the curve is sublinear, while the machine cost per piece goes down. The standard cost keeps using the nominal crew, so it stays reproducible.
  • Shift generation over a date range — read from the calendar of each work center, holidays and closures excluded, for the operators you choose.
  • An allocator that staffs the shifts by itself — each work center carries a weight, its waiting work hours multiplied by urgency, and the next operator goes where he buys the most output. It proposes first, explains every choice, applies on demand, and never overwrites a shift you decided by hand. A daily automatic run is available, switched off until you want it.

Worth knowing before you buy

  • Nothing changes until a curve is configured: with the feature off, every duration, date and cost is exactly the one Odoo computes today.
  • The allocator staffs, it does not sequence: it decides who mans what in a shift, not the order in which the operations run.
  • It maximises weighted output, not coverage: a station with little work can be left unmanned when its operators are worth more elsewhere. If a station must always be manned, assign that shift by hand and the allocator works around it.
  • Actual times stay machine hours, as in standard Odoo: three operators clocking one hour count as one hour.
  • The planning board is a companion module and needs Odoo Enterprise; everything else works on Community as well.
