Project Employee Cost

Labour and subcontracting are the two cost lines that drift first and are noticed last. By the time the invoices arrive, the phase that absorbed them is often already closed.

Who is it for

Companies working with their own crews and with subcontractors on the same project.

How it works

  • The project carries an hourly labour rate, which any single activity can override.
  • The budgeted cost comes from the time allocated, the actual one from the time really booked.
  • Subcontracting is budgeted per activity and confronted with what has been invoiced.
  • What has been ordered but not invoiced yet is shown separately, so the exposure is never hidden.
  • Everything is totalled on the project and frozen on its updates.

The result: You see labour and subcontracting drift while there is still time to react.

Project Employee Cost

Estimated and actual labour and subcontracting cost of tasks and projects

Values the labour of a task from an hourly rate and the time booked on it, and tracks the subcontracting cost from the purchase orders and the vendor bills.

Features

  • Hourly Single Labor Cost on the project, overridable task by task.
  • Estimated Labor Cost = hourly rate × allocated time; Actual Labor Cost = hourly rate × time spent.
  • Estimated Contractor Cost entered by hand; Actual Contractor Cost read from the vendor bill lines posted on the analytic account of the task, excluding reversed entries and credit notes.
  • Contractor Cost Not Invoiced – value of the Contractor purchase order lines of the task not invoiced yet.
  • Everything rolled up on the project and snapshotted on the project updates, in a dedicated Costs tab.

Demo data

  • Labour on the Palazzo Mercanti site: 42.00/h on the project, overridden at 55.00/h on the structural task.
  • 830 hours allocated across the four tasks and 220 already booked through timesheets, giving 39 020.00 of estimated and 10 852.00 of actual labour cost.
  • 23 500.00 of subcontracting budgeted, of which 8 500.00 ordered but not invoiced yet.
  • An analytic account per task, on the Task Activities plan, which is what makes the invoiced subcontracting cost land on the right task.
