MRP Cut Planner

Odoo module.

Cutting standard stock — sheets, bars, tubes, fabric, glass, foam — into pieces always leaves scrap. MRP Cut Planner turns your manufacturing demand into optimized cutting orders that nest the pieces for the best yield and reuse recoverable offcuts before opening new material.

Who is it for

Any manufacturer that cuts standard stock to size and wants to stop wasting recoverable scrap — metalworking and joinery, tailoring and upholstery, glass, leather and foam cutting.

How it works

  • Set up each material as a cuttable product — sheet (2D) or bar/tube (1D) — with its nominal size.
  • On bills of materials and manufacturing orders, pick the piece and type its cut length (and width for sheets); the matching product is created for you.
  • Group the demand into a cutting plan and optimize: the best layout is computed, reusing offcuts already in stock first.
  • Confirm to generate one cutting order per sheet/bar; mark it done to produce the pieces and recover the offcut back into stock.
  • The recovered offcut is reused automatically by the next plan, and material cost is fairly shared across pieces and offcuts.

The result: Less waste, lower material cost, and full traceability of every cut and every recovered offcut.

MRP Cut Planner

Dynamic cutting BoM for sheets (2D) and bars/tubes (1D) with tracked offcut reuse and native cutting orders.

Features

  • 2D & 1D — guillotine nesting for sheets/rolls and cutting-stock optimization for bars, tubes and profiles.
  • One product, sized variants — virgin stock, finished pieces and offcuts are variants of the same product, told apart by Cut Length / Cut Width.
  • Native cutting orders — each plan generates real Manufacturing Orders consuming a support and emitting the offcut and other pieces as by-products.
  • Offcut reuse — recovered offcuts are consumed before virgin stock on the next plan, automatically.
  • Fair cost allocation — the support cost is split across all outputs proportionally to size.
  • See the cut — scaled 2D layout (SVG), interactive 3D tube/bar viewer, printable PDF.

Industry-agnostic

Metalworking and joinery, but equally tailoring/upholstery cutting fabric, and glass/leather/foam cutting.

Changelog

  • 19.0.1.2.0 — By-product cost share proportional to size; Italian translations refreshed.
  • 19.0.1.1.0 — Cross-section as attributes/variants; demand read from MO components.
  • 19.0.1.0.0 — Single-product dimensional-variant model: 1D+2D engine, native cutting orders, offcut reuse, 2D/3D viewer.
